Os irregular verbs em inglês constituem apenas uma pequena parte de todo o conjunto verbal dessa língua, porém são os verbos mais usados pelos falantes. Eles são classificados como irregulares porque não obedecem a regra geral de formação do past particple (particípio passado) nem do simple past, que é o acréscimo de -ed ao final da forma infinitiva do verbo.
Já no tempo simple present, os únicos dois verbos irregulares são os verbos to have e o to be, que mudam completamente, destoando das suas formas no infinitivo. Observe abaixo a escrita do verbo to be variando de acordo com a pessoa do discurso que a acompanha:

Já o verbo to have é irregular na 3ª pessoa do singular pois, ao invés de apenas acrescentar o sufixo -s ao final da raiz como todos os outros que são regulares, criando a forma agramatical *haves, o correto é he/ she/ it has. Apesar de alguns verbos acrescentarem também um -es no simple present, eles não são considerados irregulares, mas sim um ajuste ortográfico para acompanhar a pronuncia.
Justamente por serem irregulares, os verbos na tabela abaixo não obedecem a nenhuma regra e o melhor jeito de aprendê-los é decorando suas formas distintas, usando-as em exemplos e sempre estar em contato com a língua para vê-las em uso e para não confundir com os verbos regulares.
